Met52 contains spores of the naturally occurring soil fungus
Metarhizium anisopliae and is registered for nonfood use, including application on ornamentals, shrubs, and forest and shade-tree seedlings. University, government, and independent studies have repeatedly demonstrated that Met52 provides consistent efficacy against all larval stages of the black vine weevil and strawberry root weevil, which can attack more than 100 landscape plants.
So far this product is approved for the horticultural market and specialty crops. However, it is only a matter of time before similar biological products will be used for broad-acre crops. Naturally Novozymes is aiming to be the first in the field.
